Western Province flyhalf Brandon Thomson made his debut in Super rugby last week. We caught up with this rising star…
What can you remember of your first Super Rugby game?
My debut was an amazing experience. To be honest I remember every single detail of that game, it was my first and wanted to really take in every moment.
How was your pre season preparations?
Pre season was quite tough! It was by far the toughest one I’ve been part of, but worth every moment.
How do you stay motivated during the season?
I’m easily motivated, obviously it’s an absolute honour to play for the Stormers, so to stay involved with them is motivation enough!
What is your first impressions of Super Rugby?
My first impression was that the pace is at a new level, it’s a step up in every aspect.
What’s your match day routine?
My game day routine isn’t much of a routine, I just try staying as calm as possible. I might go through my playbook and trust that all is going to go well.
If you had to be a piza…. what toppings would be on you?
If I had to be a pizza I’d have the popular bacon, avo and feta toppings on me, cause that’s my favourite, but I would add extra cheese, cause I’m cheesy like that sometimes.
What actor will play you in a movie about your life?
I’d say Liam Hemsworth would be best suited to act out my life in a movie.
Best way to spend a day off?
My ideal day off would definitly include a round of golf with mates and then topped off with a Choc-Brownie milkshake from Hudsons.
Rugby role models?
My role models include Johnny Wilkinson and ever since I was little boy Joost van der Westhuizen was one of my favourite players.
If not rugby what would you do?
If not rugby, I would love to play professional golf, but realistically I would be either be an accountant or business man.
