Stephen is a strong attacking centre with incredible distribution skills and is set to quickly work his way up the Cheetahs prestigious ranks. We caught up with the talented Rautenbach to find out how life is going in the Free State.
How do you feel 2014 has gone for you?
Very challenging due to a few injuries throughout the year which kept me off the field.
Who gets you revved up in the changing room at half time?
Mainly the coaches but a few players join in on getting us focused and ready for the second half. My critical inside voice also plays an important role.
What was your best memory at Grey College?
My best memory was the few seconds before a match in the 1st XV changing room where we would listen to the rest of the school chanting “First team, First team!!!!”
What was your worst memory at Grey?
The moment the final whistle blew in my last ever game for Grey.
If you were invisible for a day what would you get up to?
I would sneak into the ladies dressing room of Victoria’s secrets.

Nick Cummins the honey badger
Do you have any routines you follow before a game or any special socks you must wear?
What makes a great centre?
A centre that can create something out of nothing. A player that doesn’t mind creating shine for others.
What are your goals for 2015?
To make the SA U20 squad and stay away from injuries. To make the Cheetahs U21 squad.
What do you like most about the Cheetahs?
I like the fact they play running rugby like Grey College and New Zealand.
