Scarra Ntubeni has been out with a 2nd grade tear on his calf and a broken 5th metatarsal on his left foot, for most of the Super Rugby season. It has been a tough year for the feisty hooker injury wise but he has remained positive. He chats to us about his come back.
There was talks of you being back on the field for last week’s game, what happened?
I was fine to play but we thought it might be better to rest for one more week. We didn’t want to risk it.
Can you tell us about the rehab that you have done?
I have really been working hard to lose weight as well as strengthening my calf. I had to focus a lot on my calf as it was injured before I broke the bone in my foot so it’s been my main focus.
How do you keep motivated while being injured?
I try stay as positive as I can. The support from the family and friends has been great and kept me on the right track.
What do you get up to at home with all this spare time suddenly?
Well my house has never been this clean ha ha. Lots of dog walking and time with my sponsors.
How are you going to feel when you find out that you will be playing a game?
Pretty emotional, it has been a tough year. I can’t wait to get back on the field with the boys. Rugby is my life!
