How were the holidays?

Holidays were great, spent quality time with the family and went on a rowing trip up the Orange river for 4 days with friends.

How has pre season been?

It’s been tough, a lot of running. It has been nice to get to know my new team mates.

How does it compare to WP’s pre season?

There is a lot more running during pre season here. There is also more freedom in attacking structure and the culture in Bloem. It is very different from the Cape.

How do you spend your off days?

A few of The Griquas guys are staying in the same lodge just outside Bloem, so we spend most of our time there. I still have some friends in Bloem from my school days at Grey Collage. So I usually spend time with them after training.

How are you coping with the heat?

The heat is tough, but luckily our field sessions are either in the morning or late afternoon, so we are out of the sun during the warmest part of the days.

Which players have you gotten to know well and who do you look up to?

I know Francois Venter and Jean Cook from school. JP du plessis, Stephan Coetzee and Joe Peterson I know from WP. Sergeal Peterson, Tiaan Meyer , Ewald vd Westhuizen and Danie Mienie I have gotten to know well because we stay together.

What are your goals for 2015?

I want to finish my degree. Play as much Super Rugby as possible and help the team finish in the top 6. I also would like play in the Currie Cup with The Griquas.
