Jean Kleyn

October 30, 2014

Stormers Lock, Jean Kleyn chats exclusively to Union Sports Mag about WP’s spectacular victory.

What was your main focus going into the final?

Would you say that you were more nervous for this game than any of the others?

Actually the anticipation and stress going into the semi was a lot worse than that of the final. We were more focused for the final. We knew what we needed to do and how we were going to do it.

Who motivated you before the game?

Well it wasn’t really one person. Every guy in the team had a responsibility in getting himself motivated for the game and also contributing to the team vibe. Also, it’s the Currie Cup Final, if that’s not enough to get you psyched then nothing will.

What would you say the hardest part of the game?

I think we had a tough time at the scrums because of all the penalties but other than that it was just another tough game against a quality side.

Best part of the game?

It has to be the moment when the whistle blew. Just pure, utter elation and joy.
