Dean Grant

September 9, 2014

We chatted to Dean Grant, the Ikeys star ,about his move to the Griquas. This is what he had to say…

Ikeys vs Griquas? Is it different?

Its quite similar. It is nice and relaxed. Great team with a good atmosphere.

How are you settling in?

I knew a few people before I arrived so it was not as tough as It would be going to a place where I knew no one. My accommodation was organised before I got there so everything has been pretty chilled and comfortable. As I said they are a nice bunch of guys so they have made me feel welcome.

Best part of Kimberley?

The friendly people and the biltong

Not so great part?

The dryness and you can’t drink water out of the tap.

Best experience so far?

It would have to be our game against the Puma’s it was my debut and I managed to score my first Currie Cup try, I was pretty excited.

Have you gone to see the “big hole” yet?

Yes, we went to the hotel that looks over the hole and we were able to learn the whole history, which was cool.

Best restaurant there?

Definitely The Halfway House.

Toughest game so far?

It would have to stay the Cheetahs, the second game we played. Our side got a yellow card so we had to play for 60mins with 14 men so it was tough.
