EP Kings wing, Brian Skosana, chats to us briefly about life in the windy city.
How have you ended up in the Eastern Cape when your family is in Johannesburg?
I went to school in the Eastern Cape, at St Andrew’s in Grahamstown. So in a way I have come to call the Eastern Cape home away from home.
You played rugby in Australia after you left school – how did this come about and was the experience beneficial to you?
Rugby league was actually the offer to join the Sydney Roosters, it was always in the back of my mind to go over to Australia and play over I just didn’t expect it so soon. Although only playing for 1 season in the u20’s spending 2 years over in Australia It taught me how to adapt to different situations and how the two different codes share striking similarities. The mental side of league is definitely the most challenging.
What did you enjoy the most about your time at The Kings Academy in Port Elizabeth?
The Kings Academy was a fun and huge growing experience coming back from a big city like Sydney to try and settle down in PE. I’d have to say the culture amongst the boys and the vibe was definitely the highlight
Favourite rugby memory?
My favourite rugby memory would probably be my first try for Roosters u20 and making SA Schools.
Five years time – where would you like to be in your life?
Playing Super Rugby and just loving life while enjoying my rugby. In my personal life having established a real estate portfolio and hopefully have a better understanding of the stock markets.
