Aston’s rise to his Fortuin

April 24, 2015

Blue Bulls U19 star, Aston Fortuin, chats to Union Sports Mag about his bright future.

What was your best memory when you were at South Downs?

Being announced as the Head boy for 2014 and beating out fierce rivals Midstream in my matric year comes as a close second.

What was your worst memory from South Downs?

Losing in the semi-finals of our league in my matric year.

Describe your first day at the Bulls u19 academy?

They took it easy on us the first day as we were introduced to the management but it was also very exciting and quite a bit of a shock to hear what was expected of us in the coming year.

 Who do you room with?

Jerry Danquah, he was my roommate in grade 9 and 10 as well so it wasn’t hard getting along.

Who is the prankster in the team?

Ruan de Beer and Arnold Gerber are always up for a prank and a laugh.

Who is the messiest in the changing room?

We haven’t yet seen anyone be that messy as of yet.

Who is your favourite Bulls player?

Victor Matfield.

Who is your favourite world player?

Sam Whitelock.

As a lock what skills do you think one must have to be great?

Being able to do the basics tremendously well. Catching the ball from the restarts, taking control in the line-outs and being able to read opponents line outs and being a strong scrummager behind the props, while having a very high work rate in the loose on attack and defense.

What song is your ring tone on your phone?

Your body by Mi Casa.

Thanks Aston and all the best for up coming season.

Aston-1 Aston-2
