Loose forward, Rayn Smid, is definitely one to watch in 2014. He was one of the stars contributing to his WP team’s Currie Cup victory in 2013 and will be chomping at the bit for a spot in the Super 15 squad.
USM: Happy New Year big guy! How was your holiday?
Rayn: And to you too. It was an awesome time chilling with family and friends.
USM: Where were you for Xmas?
Rayn: There were about 13 of us in Mossel Bay/Glentana.
USM: Does your family have any Xmas traditions?
Rayn: Well the men have to take it in turns to dress up as Father Christmas and this year it was my turn. And no I don’t have any pictures of it…ha ha
USM: What did you eat?
Rayn: So so much food. Chicken pie, roast potatoes, Gammon, veggies galore, Ouma’s cake the list goes on!!!
USM: What was the best present you gave someone?
Rayn: I gave Call of Duty Ghosts which I think is a pretty cool present.
USM: What did you get for Xmas?
Rayn: Well for some reason I got inundated with mugs…5 mugs in total!!! I also got loads of clothes which is always a good one.
USM: Any New Year resolutions?
Rayn: I want to cook more and learn recipes.
USM: What was your best and worst memory from 2013?
Rayn: Best was definitely winning the Currie Cup. Worst was losing our first game which was against the Cheetahs.
USM: Best of luck for upcoming season Rayn, we know you are going to kill it.
Rayn: Thanks guys.
